While this information is not new, recent RT's have reminded me that a lot of people would still benefit from this information.
While as a community we collectively know not to give out our login and password out to anyone, there are still players out there that do. (I know, cause I see RT's proving it). And I know there are those of you thinking "who would be dumb enough to do that?", or "they deserve whatever happens". Believe me... [censored].
But there are other ways to have your account become compromised...
Phishing sites: these sites are here just to get your information. They may claim to give free AP, it might be a site completely unrelated to Wolf Team or even Aeria Games. Lets start with the first:
Who wouldn't want free AP? want some? give me your log in and password and I will put 2k AP in your account! How is this different from giving another player your info? It's not, you're asking for it.
Now other sites: All someone has to do is go to a less than secure site find out your some of your information, mostly just your password, and if you use that info for anything else, your stuff becomes their stuff.
And here's another related scam: "I want to sell my account for $$", cool, you buy it (which is already a violation of ToS). Cool, they get the money. I get an RT saying "my account got hacked", they give me all the information proving they are original owner, I lock you out and they get their account back along with your money.
So some of you have gotten to know me already and know I speak plainly. Not out out of malice but out of honesty. ALL of the above situations are preventable. If you take the steps to do it. I really urge you to. Because if it's you crying "my account got hacked!! My (insert anything here) is gone!!" we can try your get account back, but there is absolutely nothing that will be done about the AP or any other item/power or whatever.

Right, as I would like to point out many of the things Geck0 has stated are very true however there are more ways for people to gain your account access for example!
Never sign up to any untrusted gunz forums especially vBulletin as it could be plaintexted in which all your passwords may be logged and if you use the same password they can simply crack into your account.
Never use the same password as you do on Aeria as there is a higher chance of being hacked if you use the same password elsewhere.
If someone as Geck0 stated wished to sell their account it is completely AT YOUR OWN RISK! Aeria will not tolerate any sort of account exchanging at all if you do it and lose your money then it's your own fault you can easily avoid it whether they say how AWESOME their account is in which they want to sell even at a price which is really low can be a scam! If you're unfortunate enough to do this then do not bother Aeria about it as it was your own risk. If you paid via PayPal then simply write a ticket to refund your money or take it up with your bank.
Many phishing sites also have IP Logs connected within it and some people might try and scare you by saying "I'm going to hack into your computer with your IP if you don't give me bla bla." This is completely false, the only thing you can do with an IP (Internet Protocol) is DDoS/DoS (Distributed / Denial of Service) attack and locate the whereabouts of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) location.
Some people with the right information can also contain a DOX (Documents) about yourself including full names, d/o/b, address, relatives etc etc if they try to do this to scare you just ignore it many people who do this even if they do threaten WILL NOT go to your house personally and "beat you up" as many say. If you've done nothing wrong online etc they can not get you SWAT'd as in my past experience people have tried to threaten with getting the police to your house. If anyone has tried to do this to yourself then ignore it and if they continue do go on just say it's false information.
As I've previously stated to never use the same password and as Geck0 stated never give your password out. An easy way to prevent this is to make your password completely irrelevant to yourself or the game itself use a password no-one but you will know and yes this will contain A-Z 0-9 uppercase and lowercase letters for EXAMPLE! (Do not use this exampled password as your own password) 20A3r1AG4m3S12 is a good example as you see you have all kinds of different letters and numbers also different uppercase and lowercase even if someone tried to "Bruteforce" your password it would be extremely hard to do so!
