Hey all!

I'm a new player since yesterday. Made my first character, tried the dark and the light side, and now getting stuck, lucky found my way to the forum. I do like the concept of the game, but just getting all the skills will get me in trouble later i guess so now I'm trying to find out how to build my build. I like the idea of priest, so started with that, but still looking around.

Started playing on normal, do have some experience with gaming but totally focusing on the PVE part. Seeing lots of words without any meaning for myself so have to learn a lot. But the first impression of the game is good. Maybe till in game!

First of all welcome to the Shaiya community! Regardless of which server you end up on, I'm sure you'll find the experience fun and enjoyable.

I myself prefer priests, so I'm always happy to hear when someone else goes the way of the healer (or Battle Priest [BP]). I would write out a guild on how to go about building your priest, but Lady.Sin has already done a very thorough guide for that. In fact, there are several guides within the forums for the various classes within the game. Starting with Lady.Sin's here are but a few:

Some of the guides have information that is current through Episode (EP) 4. I am confident however, that with these guides and help within the game from other players, will get you started on the road to building an awesome character. One thing to note. A player use to have to get a Normal Mode character to level 40 to unlock Hard Mode. That is no longer the case. I recommend that when starting a new character, start with a Hard Mode. They provide you with more stat and skill points and thus are a stronger more resilient toon. Easy mode is good for quickly building and learning a toon, but they come with far less skill & stat points, and can only reach lvl 30. I haven't met anyone that built an easy mode toon in years Smile.

One final piece of advice. The forums are full of information and the search feature is pretty reliable. If you want to research an Archer for instance, search on key words like "Archer Build" or "Archer Guide" or even "Ultimate Archer Guide". The results should get you to the information you are looking for.

Good luck to you and welcome aboard!

Thx for the welcome and feedback, already found some builds and will think of 'hard' mode. Don't have an active character anymore, cause i wanted to see the dark side again. But will stay in the light for now. Downloaded the 'planner' so i can think of where to put my skill points. Already have a basic and for the rest I just going to ask at the forum.

Hi!
I'm Lily. I'm 16 years old and I just started playing Shaiya yesterday. I'm so lost in what to do lol

I'm lvl 6, I think I chose hard mode. I haven't really gotten the gist of this game. I have no idea how to get armor or weapons or money. So I'm wondering if someone wants to help me in game that would be awesome. Also, nobody has talked to me in the game (only played for maybe 30 mins), so looking for friends to play with Smile

I'm not really a gamer, but I have spare time now so I decided to try it out.
So yeah, add me!
I think my name in game is CuteLily (yeah i think that's it lol)

Welcome to Shaiya, CuteLilyy! Very Happy

As you have probably already found out, there isn't any official player manual as such out there, but the fact that you have found your way to the forums will save you a lot of time later on if you take care to make frequent use of it.

For some starter tips, here's:
Kikix' basic guide to Shaiya

and

Big ol' Index of Helpful Guides and the like

and

The Shaiya Wiki

Also, check out the various class sections in this part of the forums for advice on your characters. It's a lot to digest at first, so just read up on as much as you think you can take on for now, play the game a little and see how it compares to what you read, then come back and read some more. It will save you a lot of grief down the line if you do.

Now, the Shaiya player community is somewhat 'old' - ie that it is quite well established, and can seem a bit monolithic at first for a new player, and the various servers have their own established ways and social mechanisms. Try to get into some parties with others, try to make note of the guilds the people who seem nice belong to, and consider trying to join one that seems to have people in it you'd like to be with.

For armor, weapons and money - it is basically at first down to trying to get the stuff you need to drop from the various monsters/creatures you kill or buy them for the gold the your kills drop from the various merchants in the game. In time, you might have to rely on 'farming' to earn gold (ie killing certain creatures over and over in order to get certain items to drop from them). Prices on the player market are quite daunting to the new player, but don't give up - let the time you feel you can commit to the game decide your pace and how you progress. Shaiya is as much about the journey to the top as it is about being there. And for those of us who have been around a while, most of our memories are all about the road that brought us where we are today.

While you are in the game, if you find yourself in a situation you don't know how to deal with or feel you could need the advice of someone to proceed, don't hesitate to ask for a Game Sage on the Trade Chat channel (is available to you after you get to level 10). If one of us is online, we will do our best to answer your questions, and if we aren't around, there's usually other players that like to help as well.

Good luck! ^^

Hello there! I'm FairyTailx on the game, so you may as well call me Fairy if you'd like. I've been playing Shaiya a week maybe, and I still haven't learned how to properly add friends on there. Also, where can I purchase good armor and weapons for my pagan in game? Thank you, I really enjoy this game! ^^

Welcome to our world, diamond24! Very Happy

For advice in general on the game, I refer to my post above here, while I believe someone answered your thread about how to add friends already. Which leaves me to answer the question about armors and weapons.

The quests and NPCs do as a norm not yield any high grade gears for your characters - the better stuff come from various bosses that can be quite hard for a new player to get access to. Where most of the stuff is found on sale is in the Auction House - you get there by using a gatekeeper in Apulune (if light) or in Iris (if fury) - where there is an auction board where people put gears up for sale.

Now, you will most likely be gobsmacked by the prices on the Auction Board. The game suffered a period of gold hyperinflation a couple of years ago, from which it has yet to recuperate and measures to solve this have been slow in coming. This pretty much means that you have to take a long term view as a new Shaiya player in order to slowly build up your economy as you grow stronger. In general, it is hard making a good/decent buck from ingame drops before you make it into the high 50s/low 60s.

The other option for gears is the Barter Board sections of the Server Activities subforums, of which the Linked Server Barter Board is by far the most active. The items sold here are quite expensive and mostly sold in exchange for AP items (items that players that choose to spend real money on getting bring into the game).

But, as I keep saying, it is as much about the journey as trying to become a strong player. Don't set your goals too high from the start, and there's good fun to have in Shaiya.

Good luck! ^^

Getting in VR or Jungle

Can't get in
Hello,

I was summoned by my party leader into a VR or Jungle portal. All the people in my party were able to go thru the barrier except me. I fell into the underground (water). I used the town portal and ended up in Karis Castle town. What happened to me? Where was I? Why did everyone else went thru the barrier except for me? Thanks for the explanation.

Sounds a bit odd that you were not able to go through the barrier, but I assume you fell victim to that one glitched pixel inside the barrier that drops you into the drink. I've stepped into that mini black hole myself a couple of times.

Anyways, this barrier is in Jungle.

I think why you couldn't go through the barrier can have been due to the fact you stepped on that glitched pixel. Unless it kept happening to you later?
