Need help with my Oracle - all WIS, or WIS / REC?

I have been away form Shaiya about 2 years. I came back and have the opportunity to completely redo my level 45 Orc stats. I can reassign all spell points and skill points.

I used to be a full WIS, which is great for parties. However, PVP sucks because I always get targetted and die quickly. And in dungeons, I often have to get escorted even with Evolution spell. In addition, some times when I play there just aren't enough people for a decent grouping, and full WIS Orcs have a hard time soloing.

So I have been thinking of doing a 50-50 REC/WIS Oracle, but not sure if it will give enough soloing benefit to offset the loss of healing power I will have when I do group.

In addition, I have little experience tanking (this 45 Orc was pretty much my only character when I used to play) and need help with spell selections if I do decide tank.

I have red the excellent ORC guide here by Elfstruck, and my first inclination is to go full WIS. But I wanted to here from the REC/WIS orcs on what potential benefits that build may offer and whether it fits my situation.

Personally I prefer about 50 / 50, or then emphasize the other slightly more, however you prefer and depending on your final gears.

Well full REC is the best for soloing...and PvP. A dead orc can't heal. You don't have to tank in a party if you don't want to (obviously you would if you're soloing). Just tell them you want to heal. Most people won't even know you're full REC. Healing heals so much anymore it doesn't really make a difference.

WIS recieved a nice boost for healing in ep5, so most orcs don't seem to need as much WIS for effective healing. I would definitely recommend a good amount of REC in your build, especially if you plan on PvPing a lot.
I personally built my 20-30 PvP orc full REC, linking safe 5/6 and wise6s in all my gear. I had decent survivability, and most of the time, adequate heals.
I also have a UM orc around your level that I used mostly for parties/dungeons. I found that, in PvE, even when soloing, I could sacrifice a bit of REC and add WIS to increase my heals. This orc's stats went 6rec/3wis, safe/wise 5s and duals in dread/legend gear. I'm able to survive the trek through a dungeon to catch up to my party, and can still heal effectively.

Last note: The newer 60+ gear (Dreamy Nascor, Scholar, etc) come with pretty nice WIS base stats, meaning you can err on the side of more REC and still come out with decent heals in endgame without having to fill your gear with wise lapis.

Hope this helps some Smile

Sure you CAN heal some as full rec, but you CAN also survive without being full rec (and heal better). My 60 orc is pretty much 50/50, and still has one of the highest defense (def+abso, overall survivability). Ofc in 70 it becomes more difficult with new gears and increased atk power, but that's what you have other tools for. Full rec works for soloing, but past certain level it really doesn't matter if you start doing wis too, unless you're in terribly crappy gear, PvE is a cake anyway.

But also, you really can tell a full rec healer by heals lol.

For me 50/50 build and linking wise5/life5/dual wises for dreads/legends in leveling is more than adequate. (And cheaper too compared to linking Rec) Linking mentals + a few vigor to accessories will help greatly in later levels for heals/UR during leveling.

However this build will probably get you killed if you want to tank or pvp. However you can usually get to see squishier fellow grinders die first as you can absorb a few more hits due to the hp buffer. Razz

If you want to ease grinding and want to tank, solo perhaps, do full rec for a while (maybe 15-20 first levels), then start adding a mix of rec and wis. I soloed pretty much till 40+, a lot after that too. I did have a UM toon though, so self-heal definitely helped. For HM it's ofc all the same doable, just need to take a bit easier. You have all the healing over time skills and healing skills to help with that. If you can get ele I or ele II top for grinding it helps too. Just the ele alone would make a greater effect.
