Today went well. I didn't get to play much, but for the little time I did spend on Last Chaos I hung out at the west herb patch outside of Randol on K5. There I gathered herbs and did a bit of pumpkin hunting. Quite a few people came by while I was attacking those pumpkins. Most stopped, watched for a few seconds, then ran on. Some new players without pumpkin hats asked what I was doing. Some other new-ish players who thought they were "all that" tried to KS me. Man, I wish I had been on a PvP server. I would've pulled Stone on them, killed the coveted pumpkin, and retreated to the safety of the herb patch until they wandered away again. But I wasn't on a PvP server, so all I could do was toss out my big attacks and kill it right before they launched an attack--that way, I had a spare moment in which to pick up whatever the pumpkin might drop. It worked pretty well. Soon enough, another person around my level came along. He attacked a pumpkin, I watched and restored his mana. Then I attacked a pumpkin while he watched and buffed me. Another new player ran up and tried to steal his next pumpkin. I told the player that the pumpkins were first-come first-serve and that he shouldn't attempt to KS. My pumpkin-ally very much agreed, and from then on we let whoever reached the pumpkins first have them. I'd say we were fairly evenly matched. While I had long-distance attacks and he didn't, I couldn't watch the screen every second to see if the pumpkin had reappeared. Both of our hats kept glitching, too, causing neither of us to be able to see any pumpkins for a little while.
Anyway, that was fun. I love players who are willing to share. The guy had a sense of humor, too. Soon a friend of his ran up and they began playfully bantering with each other (over "stealing" each others' level 5 wolves, no less), much to my amusement.
Finally we attracted quite a crowd there, what with all our talking and fairplay. After we'd gathered eight people, I headed over to the herb patch to just gather herbs. It's rather hard to get a pumpkin when there are seven other people standing around waiting to jump at it, too. At least it was a nice crowd--nothing like the kind you see around players who are misbehaving. >.>
