Well, you wouldn't believe it, but I finally got my hands on a 37+10 staff.
Today I was in a solo party in Merac with a bunch of other mid-30's low-40's characters--mostly rogues. We started chatting about the economy and our strategies for selling stuff. Specifically, we talked about how hard it seems to be to sell level 30-32 and 35-37 armors, and 33 and 37 weapons. The highest level member of the group, a 41 assassin, said that she always managed to sell out on K1. So I decided to go to K1 to sell my drops today. But the time I was done hunting, my inventory was overloaded to 114%--yikes!
Anyway, I got to K1, set up a shop, and about an hour later noticed someone yelling in trade chat that they were selling a 37+10 Sparkles Staff as well as looking for a level 41/45+10 staff to buy. I PMed them, offering my 29+10 and 3mil for the staff. They laughed and asked me what I expected them to be able to with a 29+10? I agreed that it was not of much use to them, and upped my bargain. I offered my 41+6 staff and 4mil gold. That got them interested.
I soon found out that they were a level 38 wizard and had spent their entire last level looking for a good level 41 staff. In desperation, they had started to ask around for a level 45 one--despite the fact that they can't wield it yet. My 41+6 was just the thing they were looking for. I threw the extra gold in because I wanted to be sure to seal the deal the first time. If you make a low offer, then slowly up it, the seller will either lose interest or start wanting to milk you for more. Neither is good.
We made the trade.
I honestly think I got the better end of the deal, and I will tell you why. My level 41+6 staff had 212 magical attack. The 37+10 has 243 magical attack, as well as an extra 2 meter attack range and a higher chance of critical/deadly hits. My 41+6 cost me 5mil. So 5mil + 4mil = 9mil total that I ended up paying for the 37+10. That is 3mil less than what I saw it being sold for before.
Though, I guess my mage friend got what she wanted. She managed to make the staff +9 with heavenstones, and last I saw she was asking in trade chat if somebody had an extreme stone to sell her so she could make it +10. Considering the price of ES now, the 4mil I paid her will help buy that ES. Who knows, by the time I reach level 37, perhaps she'll be selling that very same staff, and I'll be able to buy it back.
Oh, speaking of 41+10's, I no longer see the 41+10 in the shop that it was in yesterday. There is, however, a 41+4 in there. I wonder if the owner sold it? Or if they decided to keep for me until I got the money. I'm somewhat afraid to ask them. I think I will just come up with the 17mil, then inquire as to whether or not they are still in possession of that staff. If they aren't, oh well. I finally have my 37+10.
