Deary Diary,

Just for fun, I escorted some newbie adventurers into the Merac region and showed them a little of what they'll be up against down the road. I thought the experience might motivate them to train harder, to be ready for it when the time came. And, okay, I admit it: I knew their faces would be fun to watch when they came face to face with Berserkers and Pilferers for the first time. :P

A few of them handled it really well - the ones who'd at least been to Dratan before - but the two youngest were so scared, they didn't hardly learn anything. You should have seen them, knees knocking, hands shaking as they stood frozen in terror. It reminded me of those little metal figures that roleplayers use in their tabletop games, only bigger. Hahahaha!

Oh well, I guess it's not fair to traumatize the younglings just because they're fun to watch. Besides, when we're out there I'm the one doing most the work, and the price of potions and scrolls really adds up when you use and hand out so many of them. So I suppose I should stick to only taking the older ones out on safari, the ones who'll actually get something out of it.
