Ok, So I realize the current pet owner relationship setup is by design, but if you look at some of the following issues it may not seem like "by design" but more of a list of bugs or program lead lack of imagination or lacking the time to make pet usage more valuable.
1. My primary character is a healer and uses a bow, this is one of the best weapons to use while mounted on a pet. Interesting thing is the pets attack damage is related to the attack rating of your character, so if I put on a lower level weapon my attack rating drops and so does the amount of damage my dragon does with fire breathing. Bug?
2. When my mounted pet attacks while mounted it takes away from the rider's mana, but if they use a Magic Attack Potion which is inherently related to the amount of mana used to create the damage the pet doesnt reap the benefits.
3. When mounted on a pet I realize the damage taken goes directly to the rider, however the defense the pet provides should add to the total defense rating of the single combat individual and in the same turn the pet takes damage per attack as an attached dual combat unit. Although this is likely not a popular view it makes the best reason of the relationship.
There are many other issues along this same line, but the 3 above are the most notable. When you examine the 2 pieces directly above (item 2 and 3 above) you should then take into account the unmount skills as still being valid even when mounted. For example a 31+ lvl pet should still be able to provide magic or power boosts to the rider since they are magically linked in mana power of the rider, and just the same with defense since the inbound attacks are directed to the now single combat destination. The Pet Trainer option skill reset seems as though it was primarily designed to prevent the work to resolve the current pet owner relationship problems.
In Summary someone should consider revising the relationship between the rider and pet sooner than later as its creating a situation in the trading market that may be irreversible, for example individuals are training multiple pets of the same type of have an unmount for certain things and a mount for other things. Certain weapons work when mounted even if you must consider damage is reduced due to the coordination issues required while mounted. Also certain magic and defense combat related issues should be expanded on past the beta, which appears to be where the imagination or effort put into this relationship is still stuck.

Agreed, although not technically specified as a bug, the relationship needs lots of work. Makes you wonder why they went public before fixing these issues. Like getting PET EXP when fighting with a Dragon. Peace
