Blood splattered on my grimy, sweat-streaked face as my blades sunk into the orc's neck. The sounds of battle echoing throughout the temple filled my ears as I twisted my body in strange ways, losing myself in the dangerous dance that I had come to love so much. I could die here. One wrong move, one slip, one failed flick of the wrist and my life could be taken. And what did I do as my face became stained with hot orc blood? I laughed.

To my right, my fellow guildmate and Rogue, Scarfingers, laughed at my enthusiasm. With a final kick and thrust of my blades, the orc fell, laying motionless and nearly decapitated in a pool of its own blood. I glanced over to Scar, who was amusing herself on the top of the stairs with her crossbow, picking off the weak orcs in the opposite corner of the room. While tapping into a ley line, I jumped to meet her, the ley line's power coursing through me, allowing me to rise the extra feet and propel myself forward a greater distance. Catlike, I landed on all fours and wiped the hot orc blood from my face, smearing it.

"I never could really appreciate the crossbow for some reason," I said with a casual wave of my hand to the bow she was rapidly firing with skilled precision. I had a silent admiration for Scar. We were nearly equal in skill, but she was battle hardened. I, on the other hand, was more accustomed to the solo kills, taking down my enemies one by one whilst hiding in the shadows. Together, I noted, we made a great team.

"Maybe that's because you enjoy the blood of an enemy's split veins smeared upon your face?" she replied with a small laugh.

"I think that's about right," I replied with a smirk.

"EVE! SC-!" came the shout of a heavily mobbed and severely outnumbered Ariaus from the opposite stairs.

As one, Scar and I both leapt up, using our mastery of the ley lines to imbue our weapons with sinister magic, releasing a torrent of hell upon the orcs that surrounded Ariaus. Several intense moments later the three of us stood in the middle of a pile of orcs, our armor and weapons soaked and dripping with thick orc blood, our faces etched with pride and victory.

What more can I say? I'm a Shade. Life isn't just about me anymore.
